5. How to get the most out of the course

Plan Your Study

In your busy day to day life, it is easy to forget about your studies, especially for a non-formal course like this one. We expect you should spend approximately three hours per week doing course work.

This is an online course with weekly online video tutorial (lasting one hour in weeks 1, 3, 4, 6 and 7) and three longer workshops (each lasting 2.5 hours in weeks 2, 5 and 8).

Engage in Discussions

This course is based on the situation of the family carers. The principle of this course is that it works best if we learn from each other as a group, by which we mean students and teachers. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to share your experiences and engage with discussions with your fellow students as much as possible. We do understand that this can be difficult, especially with this difficult topic. But, it is important to state that everybody's views, experiences and thinking are equally valuable and valued.

Confidentiality and Respect

We do encourage you to discuss and share your experiences openly. But please ensure you are respectful to your colleagues and tutor at all times. Also, we do expect confidentiality from you all. Moodle is a closed space and is not open to the public, so the conversations will stay private within this group on Moodle.

When taking part in video meetings / workshops, please ensure nobody else in your room / space can hear or see the conversation. It may be necessary for you to use headphones to maintain privacy of the group.
